Mistakes

When Harry Potter receives his letter from Hogwarts it states that he could bring a cat, an owl, or a toad, but Ron brings a rat instead.

Harry Potter buys a book called "One Thousand Magical Herbs and Fungi," but later on in the book it states that Harry Potter looked up 'dittany' in a book entitled "One Hundred Magical Herbs and Fungi."

In Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone Professor McGonagall brings out a four-legged stool with the sorting hat, but in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire this is changed to a three-legged stool with the sorting hat.
